WORKSHOP INFO
In this small group workshop you will learn how to create your own ceramic lidded box.
A selection of handbuilding techniques will be demonstated by Franca Christophersen at the very beginning of the workshop.
Thereafter, you will have creative freedom over your own piece.
Technical insights and individual recommendations will be offered throughout both workshop sessions.
While the design of each box is ultmately up for creative interpretation, the general size should reflect the purpose of containing smaller items such as jewellery / a block of butter / optical glasses.
The pieces will be created from a robust sculpture stoneware clay that is simple and forgiving to work with.
At the end of the workshop, you will be able to select a glazed finish from Franca’s own personal archives.
After the workshop, the pieces will be left to dry before they undergo two separate firings in the kiln.
All works are professionally and individually air-sprayed with glaze by Franca Christophersen.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
The workshop is split over two set classes, with each session being 3 hours.
Materials and tools are provided. Tea and coffee available at the studio.
All costs including firings are inclusive.
Bring an apron should you have one on hand.
Finished pieces are to be picked up at Franca’s studio.
Direct shipping via GLS can also be arranged for a small fee.
