SODA FIRED VESSEL
H 20cm Ø 7.5cm
Porcelaneous Stoneware, 2019

Wheel-thrown in 2019, this piece was one of many that went into a communcal wood-sode firing at Guldagergaard in Denmark 2019. Until now, it was kept as a part of my archival collection.
The piece is wheel-thrown from a porcelaneous stoneware.

The cooler toned finish of this piece is due to the nature of a porcelaneous clay body being starved of oxygen during the wood firing process. The reduction firing method also brings out any impurities in the clay to the eye (such as the fine specs at the base). The speckled-like glaze itself is the result of soda ash being sprayed into the kiln at cone 10 / 1300 degrees celcius, thus the soda ash then melts onto the clay body and crystillazes / hardens upon the clay during the cooling process.
As such, this means that every work in this kiln firing was unique - and cannot be exactly replicated.

The base shows an earlier version of my personal signature. O-F at the time stood for “Objects - Franca” which I discontinued in early 2021.

FINE PORCELAIN VESSEL
H 16cm Ø 10cm
Pure porcelain thrown-vessel, 2019
Subtle outer textured finish, inner glossy

Wheel-thrown in 2019 from a fine china porcelain. This piece was one of my very first attempts in working with such material during my apprenticeship years. The outer subtle texture is created from including a small fraction of silicon carbide (SiC) in the glaze mexture. When the high-point of the firing is reached, the particles of SiC produce a localized reduction effect, and as minute gases are expelled they leave a glazed finish with tiny craters in the surface.

The foot underneath the pieces exhibits an earlier version of my signature “O-F” which I discontinued in early 2021.

The bowl itself is safe for food, but due to the silver it should never be put in a microwave.

RIMMED PLATE - PAPIER-MACHÊ TEXTURE
H 2.6cm Ø 20cm
Grey Stoneware, Textured Glaze & Tarnished Silver
1 of 1, Personal Archival Collection, 2023
SELECT - 210 EURO

A unique rimmed plate, wheel thrown from a coarse grey sculpure stoneware,
further encapulated in a layer of fine china porcelain - exposed only on the underside.

This particular plate underwent duplicate glaze firings, which resulted in a this surpsingly finish.
The texture itself is solid. It is not possible for me to replicate this finish exactly. During the final firing process the kiln actually failed - leaving the glaze to hold and develop at a temperature that was not recorded / cannot be easily identified.
This work serves more as a display work, rather than a functional piece.
