ABOUT

Franca Christophersen is a New Zealand–born ceramicist based in Copenhagen, whose practice balances traditional ceramic methodologies with exploratory, process-driven approaches to making.

Following an apprenticeship with Danish-American ceramic artist Eric Landon beginning in 2018, Franca established her own studio in Frederiksberg, Denmark, in 2020.

From within her studio, she produces a diverse body of work encompassing refined functional objects, sculptural forms, and bespoke commissions. Her works are often distinguished by their quiet presence and thoughtful restraint.
Franca engages in a range of clay bodies, including porcelain, stoneware, and mixed clay compositions.
In recent developments, Franca has expanded her material vocabulary to include silver.
Integrating the metal into her ceramic works and further evolving her technical and visual language.
Her practice reflects both precision and an openness to experimentation, characterised by considered attention to materiality, surface, and proportion.

Franca has collaborated with a number of respected creative studios, including Blue Mountain School in London, OEO Studio in Copenhagen, and Studio Zung in New York City.

Alongside her studio practice Franca shares her knowledge through monthly workshops, offering participants the opportunity to engage with clay in meaningful and exploratory ways.
